Lido on Solana Onboarding Process
- First Steps:
- The Lido NOM team will create team-specific telegram groups to coordinate sensitive information and keep in touch at a team level. As onboarding progresses, you will also be added to channels with the broader Lido Operator set.
- Discord: Please ensure all team members have joined with the provided usernames and verified themselves in the #Rules channel. Shortly thereafter you will be added to the /validators Solana channel.
- Email nodeoperatormanagement@lido.fi with your organization’s logo (preferably in AI or SVG format). This will be included in the blog post announcing the onboarding, as well as in the list of operators at the bottom of www.lido.fi and https://lido.fi/solana. The blog post will also include a section introducing your organization: please provide a few sentences introducing your organization, and why you are excited about joining Lido on Solana.
- Forums: Please create an account on the Lido forums (https://research.lido.fi/). DAO updates and open discussion will be posted here frequently. We ask that you please monitor the forums over the course of every week, and feel free to participate in the discussion if you would like. Because Lido is a DAO we value all opinions and appreciate diversity of thought, especially when coming from our Node Operator stakeholders.
- Onboarding Process:
The following guide explains the process of joining the Lido on Solana operator set. Operators will be walked through the process of setting up a vote account, configuring the validator identity, setting up fee and maintainer accounts etc. For the full guide please see: https://docs.solana.lido.fi/validator-onboarding.
Solana Downtime Response Strategy
In the event of a network outage, operators are expected to monitor the Solana Foundation’s official communication channels as well as the Lido Solana Validator channel to coordinate next steps.
If a network wide outage occurs, the Lido on Solana team will communicate through our internal Discord channel. If an operator is not responding to normal pings on Discord, we will also reach out through Telegram. Operators also have the option of providing a phone number to the NOM team that will only be used in emergency circumstances.
Ongoing Operations and Expectations
All Lido Node Operators are expected to adhere to the basic guidelines as discussed during the onboarding process including e.g. maintaining segregated and performant infrastructure, monitoring relevant communication channels, and updating the NOM team of any organizational changes or infrastructure updates.
- Liveliness: as a Lido node operator, your two most important responsibilities are to keep your clients running and to not get slashed.
- Ensure validator liveliness through monitoring and sufficient redundancy planning.
- While there is no requirement or legal obligation to repay stSOL to Lido stakeholders in the event of a period of extended downtime, in the past node operators have offered and we have accepted, e.g. https://research.lido.fi/t/reimbursement-for-chorus-one-october-2021-downtime/1456.
- Work towards further diversification of the Solana Network including geography, and infrastructure.
- Lido is committed to expanding the share of stake away from the superminority of Solana validators
- Monitor relevant Lido Communication Channels to keep up to date with DAO discussions and Solana related developments.
- Lido Node Operators are important stakeholders to the DAO and participating in some form of governance participating is expected.
