Modules Updates
Community Staking Module
One Month of CSM Mainnet: The Community Staking Module (CSM) has made a strong debut on mainnet with impressive progress in its first month.
- 214 operators onboarded.
- 80% growth in operators registries using the protocol (265 ➡️ 479).
- 0.4% of Lido’s TVL now operated by NOs using CSM.
Check out the blogpost to read more details of how the first month went for CSM
Simple DVT Module
Distributed Validator Vault
- So far has brought 10,275 of new ETH staked to the Lido protocol, equivalent to 320 validators

VaNOM Q3 Update
The Q3 2024 Lido Node Operator & Validator Metrics report is out!
TLDR:
- In Q3 2024, SimpleDVT module added over 130 new Node Operators, bringing the total to 236 unique Node Operators.
- Client diversity improved, with Geth usage decreasing steadily while Nethermind and Besu gained traction.
- Galaxy Digital and Chorus One adopted the Reth client, operating 10k validators in different configurations, where Reth is either used in conjunction with other EL clients or as a failover.
Check the full Q3 VaNOM report and the blogpost describing the main highlights on the report.
StakeSafe Pilot Testnet
The results of the initial pilot testnet integration with SafeStake are published!
The pilot aimed to assess the feasibility for running SafeStake Distributed Validators as a part of the Lido protocol. Over two months, 17 participants, including solo stakers and professional node operators from 13 countries, tested SafeStake on the Holesky testnet, demonstrating high validator uptime but facing issues with low block proposal success rate. A slashing incident occurred due to conflicting SafeStake software versions, where inconsistencies in attestation duties caused double attestations.
Despite these challenges, the testnet provided valuable insights, and future improvements such as Distributed Key Generation (DKG) and enhanced block proposal support that are needed to move forward to exploring the feasibility for running SafeStake Distributed Validators as a part of the Lido protocol.
Validators Exits | SNOP update
The new version of the Validator Exits Standard Node Operator Protocol (SNOP) is proposed!
The main changes include:
- Refactoring of the structure in an attempt to create a template structure for all SNOPs, and re-organization of some ancillary content to appendices
- Extension of the scope to NOs using the Simple DVT Module and/or Community Staking Module
- Definition of the terminology specific to SDVTM and CSM
- Introduction of the validator exit order of SR 2.0
- Introduction of SM stake share limits and explanation of their effect on exit priority
- Introduction of NO target limits and explanation of their effect on exit priority
- Clearer description of mechanism through which an NO validator exit request status of delinquent can recover to an in good standing status
- Clearer explanation, on a per-SM basis, of validator exit requirements and penalties for non-conformance as per the protocol code
Community Grants
After a great first round of Community Staking Grants dedicated to CSM Resources, and now that the CSM is live on Ethereum Mainnet with +200 operators, the Community Lifeguards Initiative sub-committee is opening up the next grants round as a Request-For-Proposals for community contributions of tooling that help node operators in the CSM understand and use the protocol.
Scope of this round
Any useful CSM-related tooling contribution is welcome, but here are some ideas on our wishlist:
- Reward calculators for NOs
- Monitoring tools (includes contributions to the CSM Sentinel)
- Informational dashboards about CSM (e.g. using something like Dune), and dashboards that help NOs navigate and use the module (e.g. local grafana dashes)
- Support for CSM in other community-run tools (e.g., Rescue Node)
Community Engagement
Stakesaurus (Sam) began experimenting with regular in-person solo staking workshops followed by networking mixers for the various satellite communities that the Community Lifeguards have worked to establish over the past 10 months.
We named these the Solo Stakers Guild, drawing inspiration from the success of the Lido Stakers Guild held during ETHCC earlier this year.
