Community Staking Module
CSM goes fully permissionless
Lido Community Staking Module (CSM) is now permissionless and open to everyone! Check out the live stream celebrating this accomplishment!
- Anyone can now participate and submit their first validator key with just 2.4 ETH as bond, (those joining who are on the EA List can still submit their first one with just 1.5 ETH as bond). For subsequent validators, the required bond drops significantly to 1.3 ETH each.
- The 12-validators-per-node-operator limit has been removed, enabling independent Node Operators to scale their contributions freely and strengthen their impact on network decentralization.
- The module capacity has been increased to 2%, creating more room for independent operators to join, fostering greater diversification of the set of Node Operators using the Lido protocol.
CSM integrations with VaaS providers
Three providers has recently launched integrations with CSM to simplify Ethereum validator operations by taking case of all the infrastructure aspects:
Simple DVT Module
Distributed Validator Vault
- The Obol points distribution has occurred! Users are currently receiving points from SSV, Mellow, in addition to wstETH rewards.

Mainnet | Status: Active ▶️
- Cohort 1 is active, 12 clusters running 80 validators each
- Cohort 2 is active, keys limits for 13 clusters are raised to 80 validators each
- Cohort 3 key limits raised for the first 5 validators
- Obol Super Clusters are active and running 370 validators each, with limits raised to 500
Mainnet | Status: Active ▶️
- Cohort 1 is active, keys limits for 12 clusters are raised to 80 validators each
- Cohort 2 is active, key limits for 9 clusters are raised to 20 validators
- Cohort 3 is onboarding, bringing on another 65 net-new Node Operators to the protocol
- SSV Super Clusters are active and running 200 validators each, with limits raised to 500
Node Operator Community
Node Operator Community Call
Check out the 24th Node Operator Community Call covering the following topics:
- CSM Update
- ValSet Updates
- Validator Swarm
- Dual Governance Update
Community sentiment around raising the gas limit
Following the community discussion started in December, Node Operators using the Lido Protocol started voting to raise the gaslimit. As of the beginning of February, more than 60% of stake in the Lido protocol supports a 36M gaslimit, and the network is consistently >30M.
Additionally, The NOM Workstream has created a Dune dashboard to provide a clearer view of who is increasing gas limits. It includes a 14-day history, with data available at both an aggregated level and for individual blocks, all verifiable on-chain.
Lido Protocol Compatibility with Ethereum’s Pectra Upgrade
Lido contributors published a research forum post that outlines required changes to the Lido Protocol to ensure its compatibility with Ethereum’s Pectra Upgrade.
It covers proposed updates in Oracles, Oracle Report Sanity Checker, and CS Verifier contracts needed for the Lido Protocol to account for Ethereum's upcoming changes.
Pectra-related new functionalities, such as Triggerable Withdrawals via EIP-7002 and increasing the MAX Effective Balance & validator consolidations via EIP-7251, will be addressed in separate posts.
Node Operators participation in the Dual Governance Tiebreaker Committee
Node Operators from the Lido Curated Module are invited to become a part of the Dual Governance Tiebreaker Committee. Node Operators interested in potentially being involved in Dual Governance should signal their interest via the form.
Community Lifeguards Initiative
Lido Community Lifeguards have published a Q4 report with the results of the work done.
Key Highlights of the report:
- Community Staking Module launched on Mainnet. CLGs efforts focused on onboarding node operators, with 289 total registered NOs onboarded through various initiatives.
- 9 satellite solo staking communities established, expanding into Malaysia and Taiwan with 799 members (+15% from Q3).
- Satisfaction Survey: Overall NPS dropped slightly from 78.36% to 74.33%, though feedback remained supportive.
- Community Staking Roundtables: Bi-weekly events with Lido contributors and ecosystem partners. These slowed during Q4 due to Devcon and the holiday season but will resume in Q1 2025.
- Solo Stakers Guild: A new in-person activation format, featuring workshops & networking events in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan.
- Lido Community Staking Tribes (LCST) Initiative officially launched in Q4, with Drop as the first participant.
- Grants awarded for tooling, outreach, and community events, including:
- A CSM rewards calculator & integration with ethseer.io.
- Community staking events in Nigeria, Japan, Taiwan, and Brazil.
- StakeCat is stepping down from the Lifeguards initiative to focus on becoming a professional node operator.
